2007 Oregon State AIR Championship

The 2007 Oregon State Air Pistol Championship is in the record books. And, it was a fun match. The highlight was having Paul Alexander & Steve Holmgren come up from the Bay Area for the second year. They loaned out pistols so others could shoot more entries and helped to set up & tear down the range. They are great people and certainly exemplify what IHMSA & silhouette shooting is all about. The match would not be the same without them.

Steve and Paul’s travels were rewarded with several match titles. Steve was our Standing and Unlimited champion. His Standing score was also good enough to get him in the AIR Records with a converted score of 29. Paul took the Unlimited Standing and Unlimited Standing Iron Sight titles. His Unlimited Standing score gave him an entry into the AIR Records with a converted 35, making it right on the nose. His combined Standing scores were good enough to be the Two and Three Gun Standing Aggregate champion as well. That’s great shooting guys!

Local shooters also did well. Tuni Hicks was High Lady. Steve Ware was the Production champion and High Senior. Paul Hoadley proved once again that he is tough to beat in Unlimited Any Sight taking that title and shooting the high score of the day. Gordy Prudencio took first place in Production B class, Standing A class, Unlimited Any Sight AA class, and Unlimited Standing B class.

We tried something new this year. The club provided smoked sausages, and we and took a short lunch break with a barbecued on the JCSA (almost) world famous tabletop grill. It worked out so well we’ll do it again next year. Maybe free food will bring out more shooters!

Thanks to Paul for starting the fire in the wood stove and to Steve, Paul, Gordy, and Mike for helping to set up and tear down the range.
